Lockton Won the Title of the 6-8 Goal Emerald Cup At Empire Polo Club

On Feb. 23rd Lockton defeated Roseville Motor Cars 8-7 in the 6-8 Goal Emerald Cup Finals at the Empire Polo Club. In Lockton’s second season playing polo in the desert, they have taken home two of the three tournament titles.

Lockton: Hernan Tejera, Charly Quincoces, Jessica Bailey and Tim Kelly.

In the first period of play, Lockton took an early lead with singular goals by Tim Kelly, Charly Quincoes and Hernan Tejera. Roseville was trailing by a point with a pair of goals by Fergus Gould and Ashton Wolf. The tables turned in the second chukker and Wolf and Gould each posted unanswered goals giving Roseville a one point lead going into the third chukker. Lockton came out running and Tejera put them ahead with a pair of back-to-back goals and Quincoces secured another unanswered goal.

Both teams came out strong in the 4th chukker scoring two points each and the chukker ended  with a two-point margin. The 5th chukker was a stand off with no goals scored by either team. Roseville rallied in the final chukker with a penalty shot converted by Wolf , but it was not enough to close the gap. Lockton won 8-7.

Tejera was awarded Most Valuable Player and Wolf’s horse won Best Playing Pony.

Score by the Chukker: 3-2, 3-4, 6-4, 8-6, 8-6, 8-7
