Welcome to Empire Polo Club at Calhoun Ranch, a renowned destination for polo enthusiasts and players alike. Established in 1987 by Alexander Haagen III, Empire Polo Club has evolved into one of the premier polo clubs in the United States. Nestled in the vibrant landscape of Indio, California, our club has been a beacon of excellence and tradition in the polo community for over three decades, while also serving as a world-renowned event venue. Empire Polo Club has been home to iconic events such as the Coachella Music and Arts Festival, The Stagecoach Country Music Festival, and various other large events.

In October 2021, Empire Polo Club leased out its main event venue, prompting a shift in focus to Calhoun Ranch, a nearby property originally utilized for stabling and polo team practices. Under the visionary leadership of Alexander Haagen III, Calhoun Ranch underwent a remarkable transformation.

Today, under the umbrella of Empire Polo Club, Calhoun Ranch boasts ten immaculate grass polo fields, an impressive indoor polo arena, an exercise track, and a smaller stabling area. Emerging as a world-class, private polo venue, Calhoun Ranch serves as a hub for polo enthusiasts, offering unparalleled facilities for polo teams and players.

Calhoun Ranch, as part of Empire Polo Club, is a private polo venue and does not regularly host polo matches open to the public. However, on occasion, special polo events may be held that are open to the public, typically consisting of one or two events per year.
