Pheasant Hollow sets sights on Empire Polo Club’s second tournament of the season

The season continues at the Empire Polo Club with the 4-goal coyote Cup on Saturday and Sunday, December 9th and 10th.

Granite Bay (Cameron Smith, Eric Hammon, Victor Soto and Manny Rodriguez) will be joining Hanalei Bay (Krista Bonaguidi, Ron Bonaguidi, Ashton Wolf and Alvaro Tadeo) and Pheasant Hollow (Deb Vermoch, Eileen Duffy, Carlos Galindo and Tim Rudy) on Saturday, December 9th for the first day of competition in the Empire Polo Club’s 4-goal Coyote Classic.  Play is scheduled to get underway on the Empire Polo Club’s Field 7 at 11AM on Saturday, December 9th.

Pheasant Hollow’s Tim Rudy and Debra Vermoch (L to R) are coming off of a season opening win in last week’s Desert Challenge.
Eric Hammon will be taking the field with the Granite Bay team for his first tournament of the season.

The competition will take place in a round-robin format with each team playing the other teams for two consecutive chukkers. The totals from Saturday will be combined with Sunday’s scores to determine the tournament winner.

Although all three teams are rated at the tournament maximum 4-goals, Pheasant Hollow looks to be the pre-tournament favorite after racing through the competition in last week’s Desert Challenge for the title in the season’s opening tournament.  Pheasant Hill is also the last winner of the Coyote Classic, taking home the silver in 2015.

The Coyote Classic is the second of four consecutive 4-goal tournaments which will be followed by the Jackalope Cup (Dec. 16th-17th) and the Holiday Cup (Dec. 23-24).

The 2017-2018 Empire Polo season attracts players from across the country and around the world and offers fourteen weekends of fast-paced polo in the beautiful and relaxed setting of California’s winter playground.
