Evergreen Wins 4-Goal USPA Sportsmanship Cup Finals at Empire Polo Club

The 4-goal finals were fast and furious! Grande Prairie, (Ross Adam 0, Piers Bossom -1, Felipe Sordelli 2, Tim Rudy 3) challenged Evergreen, (Tom Sprung -1, Quinn Evans 0, Carlitos Galindo 3, Taylor Freeman 2).

Evergreen Polo Team won the finals. Evergreen: Tom Sprung, Quinn Evans, Carlitos Galindo and Taylor Freeman.

Grande Prairie set the pace with three goals in the first chukker. A penalty one by Grande Prairie put Evergreen on the board and ended the first period 3 to 1.

Both teams scored two points in chukker two, boosting the score to 5 to 3. Teams went to half time with the scoreboard at 6 to 4, Grande Prairie leading, after each team added a point in the third chukker.

Grande Prairie put a penalty shot through in the fifth chukker, while Evergreen added two goals, ending the fourth chukker 7 to 6.

Grande Prairie was unable to score in chukker five. Evergreen capitalized on foul shots in the last chukker, scoring 4 penalty shots. Quinn Evans added one more for a final score in favor of Evergreen, 11 to 7. Carlitos Galindo was the high scorer with 9 goals.

1-Goal Action

The 1-goal finals was between Vashon, (Kim Bergman -1, Stephanie Davidson -1, Joey Gallemore -.5, JMG 2), and Columbia West, (David Barnett -.5, Toto Socas 2, Hayward Pardue 0, Troy/Trent Wakefield -1).

Vashon won the 1-Goal finals. From left to right:

Vashon began the game with a one half point advantage. Columbia West put the first two points on the board. Vashon answered with one, ending chukker one 2 to 1.5.

In the second chukker Vashon scored two unanswered goals, ending the time period 2 to 3.5.

Both teams scored twice in the third chukker.

David Barnett made a goal in the last chukker for Columbia West and Kim Bergman made the last goal of the game for Vashon, ending the game with Vashon winning the game with a score of 5 to 7.5.
