Players dodged rain drops on the first weekend of the two-weekend 4-goal, 5-chukker tournament. Eight teams participated. Saturday was a rain out, so those games will be made-up through the next week.

Grande Prairie won the 12 PM Match on Sunday, Jan. 12th. Trophies were presented by Cord Media.

Lockton, (Tim Kelly 0, Joe Coors 0, Tommy Costello 1, Alejandro Gonzalez 3), met Empire, (Eric Hammon 0, Rob Scapa 0, Jessica Baily 1, Kyle Fargey 3) on Sunday. Lockton racked up 4 unanswered goals in the first 2 chukkers. The third, fourth and fifth chukkers were evenly matched, with Rob Scapa and Kyle Fargey each scoring 2 goals for Empire , and Joe Coors and Tommy Costello each scoring 2 for Lockton. The win went to Lockton with an 8 to 4 final score.

Grande Prairie, (Piers Bossom -1, Felipe Sordelli 2, Tim Rudy 3, Ross Adams 0), went to the line-up against Hanalei Bay, (Krista Bonaquidi -1, Meghan Gracida 0, Luis Saracco 3, Bayne Bossom 2). Sordelli and Rudy each ran the ball in 4 times making a total of 8 points for their team. Bayne Bossom added 1 to Saracco’s 5 goals, ending the game with Grande Prairie winning, 8 to 5.

Evergreen, (Tom Sprung -1, Quinn Evans 0, Carlitos Galindo 3, Taylor Freeman 2), challenged Taqueda, (Dawn Rose -1, Shane Flock 0, Jim Wright 3, Ciro Desenzani 2). At the end of the third chukker, Shane Flock had put Taqueda’s only point on the board. Everyone on the Evergreen team scored, making the score at the end of the third chukker 9 to 1. Taqueda scored 5 more times in the fourth and fifth chukkers. Evergreen scored twice in the fourth chukker. The game ended with Evergreen ahead 11 to 6.

Alpha Omega, (Eileen Duffy -1, John Bickford 1, Leandro Floccari 2, Erik Wright 1.5), played against Ridgway hemp, (Beau Staley -,5, Madelyn Cobb .5, Malia McCoy 1, Craig Russell 2). Alpha Omega scored 2 unanswered points in both the first and second chukkers. Madelyn Cobb came through with 2 goals in the third chukker for Ridgway, while the Alpha team added 4 points, ending the first half 2.5 to 8. Although Ridgeway scored 4 more goals, Alpha Omega put 3 more points on the board. Alpha Omega was the winner with an end score of 11 to 6.5.
