4-Goal and 1-Goal Action at Empire
December 29th & 30th, 2012
by Dylan Foster
The last tournament of 2012 was another two day round-robin between Parklane: Bill Garlock, John Ziegler, Collin White, Doug Blumenthal and L.B.L.: Alison Patricelli, Hayward Pardue, Lolo Payan, Kimo Huddleston and Tentnology: Nick Wilhelm, Gery Warner/Dylan Warner, Nicolas Maciel, Ricardo Garcia. Tentology came out of the first day having two wins under their belts and looking good for Sunday’s round-robin, but this wasn’t over by a long shot.
As the clouds tried to push their way into the Coachella Valley and the normally ideal desert conditions cooled significantly, the action on the polo field only heated up. Parklane took the first matchup against LBL by three goals, then LBL turned the tide and got a five goal victory over the Tentnology squad. It was now down to the matchup between Parklane and Tentnology and it was Tentnology’s turn to swing the momentum, they handed Parklane a one goal loss and LBL came out ahead of the pack by a net goal difference after two days of intense polo action!
1-Goal
The 1-Goal tournament final was a round-robin with three teams having won their matches the previous day. Kingscliffe: Kate Ewart, Kendra Clark, Malia McCoy, Santos Arreola. Guardian Angels: Scott Walker, Joe Anthony, Cameron Smith, Domingo Questel. Coldwell Banker: Laura Hanson, Lyn Cobb; Claudia Uretz, Wiley Uretz, Ted Okie. Domingo Questel, with 4 goals, led his Guardian Angels to victory and the championship.
