Saturday afternoon’s 4-goal Holiday Cup was between Sommerset, (Heidi Clark -1, Fergus Gould 3, Jonathan Garnica .5, Pepe Rodriguez 1.5), and Granite Bay, (Shane Flock 0, Eric Hammon 0, Ashton Wolf 3, Tommy Costello 1). The match started with two goals by Granite Bay and one goal by Sommerset’s  Fergus Gould, ending chukker one with a 2 to 1 score.

Sommerset: Heidi Clark, Fergus Gould, Pepe Rodriguez, Jonathan Garnica

Ashton Wolf added a point ending chukker two: Granite Bay 3, Sommerset 1.

Both teams scored two in the third time period ending chukker three with a 5 to 3 score.

In the fourth period Shane Flock picked up a gorgeous pass from Wolf and walked it in. Then Flock sailed coast to coast for back to back goals. Sommerset’s Gould put two penalty 2 shots through the posts. Granite Bay ended the day on top, 7 to 5. Scores were carried over for Sunday’s game.

Granite bay’s orange boys started Sunday’s match with two unanswered goals ending the first period with a 9 to 5 lead.

In chukker two, Tommy Costello scored a penalty two for granite bay. Sommerset rallied with two goals. The first half ended: Granite bay 10, Sommerset 7.

Summerset played a tough third chukker scoring twice.

Fergus Gould sent one goal in for Sommerset in the final chukker, which ended the game with a 10 to 10 tie. Sommerset won by a coin toss.

Sutter Buttes, (Bonnie Magil 0, Raeann Magil -1, Benito Andrade 0, Manny Rodriguez 1), and Sayulita, (Julie Fernandez 0, Colby Smith -1, Kirsten Laverdure 0, Ricardo Garcia 2), met for Empire’s Holiday 1 goal tournament.

Sutter Buttes- Raeann Magill, Benito Andrade, Bonnie Magill, Manny Rodriguez

Sayulita’s Julie Fernandez was first on the scoreboard scoring two points. Manny Rodriguez answered with two, ending chukker one in a 2 to 2 tie.

The second chukker ended with a score of 4 to 3, favor of Sayulita, after Ricardo scored twice for them and Manny made a goal for Sutter Buttes.

Raeann Magil started off the third chukker putting a penalty two shot on the board. With no other scores the time period ended in a 4 to 4 tie.

The Sutter Buttes team turned it up in the fourth and all four players scored a goal! That ended Saturday’s play: Sayulita 4, Sutter Butte 8. This score was carried over to Sunday’s four chukker game.

Sunday’s, hard-charging one goal match began with 2 goals by the Sayulita’s girls. Sutter Buttes’ first point was made by Manny Rodriguez, ending chukker one with a score of Sayulita 6 to Sutter Buttes 9.

Ricardo put one through in the second time period, sending Sayulita to half-time with 7 points. Manny dribbled in a goal and Raeann Magil scored a number two penalty for Sutter Buttes, increasing their score to 11.

During chukker three, Colby Smith ended a great carry to score for Sayulita. Bonnie Magil and Manny each scored for Sutter Buttes, increasing their lead, 13 to 8.

In the last time period, the pink Sayulita team scored 4 goals. Sutter Buttes scored once. The match ended with Sutter Buttes victorious 14 to 12.
