6-8 Goal Empire League Finals
In the finals of the Empire League, which is made up of twosomes, Joesph Stuart filled in for AH4 (Alex Haagen, IV). Stuart played with Empire/Tentnology and patron Gary Werner, Jason Larvik along with Nicolas Maciel. They took on a German Combo ready to battle … Bolko Kissling and his son Conrad the “Wonder Kid” as well as Casper Crasman and Ashton Wolf. Atlant/Casa Sombres was in control early and most of the first 1/2 of the game, but it was Joseph Stuart and the relentless attack by Empire/Tentnology that started to gain ground and finally it became his game! It was Empire/Tentnology that took the lead and the finals of the Empire League.
4-Goal Finals
Most finals start out with each team testing each other. This was not the case at all in the finals of the 4-Goal League at Empire Polo Club. From the first throw in, Jared Sheldon and Madelyn Cobb were heading to goal at full speed and they were up by one. At throw in, Ashton Wolf gets control of the ball and passes it to Conrad and he scored a goal. This was the way it was going to be throughout the game with excellent plays being made by the Patrons. It was amazing to watch.
General Lee Pettigrew on Mercari/Casa Sombres comes blowing through, takes out a man, goes for pass and get’s it to goal. It was close for a while. At haltime the difference was just a goal, but the 4th chukker found Mercari/Casa Sombres beating them on both ends and it seemed in total control. The game, however, is 5 chukkers and the Cobb Lady’s are from a family don’t give up. They had no intention to say good bye to this chance to win the Title. As the fifth chukkar started it seemed Mercari/Casa Sombres were totally in control and then Madelyn jumped on a ball and flew down the field, just wide with a bomb. At the knock in Jared Sheldon, who plays until he is dead, came to life and knowing Lyn and Madelyn were doing their job and Manny Rodriquez was in high-mode, he started to gamble. The next thing that happened … bang, bang, bang and there were three goals added to the scoreboard by Coldwell Banker. It was now a tied ball game. Mercari/Casa Sombres roared right back, but could not close the door and with the clock ticking down and a battle in front of the goal it was left there and looks like overtime. Then look out, here comes Mom (Lyn Cobb) and she is flying and there is no doubt she is thinking THIS GAME IS OVER AND IT WAS. Coldwell Banker scored the final goal and went to the trophy stand.
Mercari/Casa Sombres: Lee Pettigrew, Conrad Kissling, Ashton Wolf and Dayelle Fargey.
Coldwell Banker: Manny Rodriguez, Lyn Cobb, Madelyn Cobb and Jared Sheldon.
